The Challenge:
Design a penthouse light-fixture statement piece to captivate both residents and guests.
The Solution:
The penthouse view of our client’s residence encapsulates a 180-degree view of Seattle, from Lake Union to Bainbridge Island. The view itself is the statement piece and it was with that in mind Blackmouth Design took inspiration. By embracing Seattle’s skyline and leveraging the geometry of the Space Needle, Needle in a Haystack was born. This 17-foot diameter, haystack light fixture is constructed from over 2,500 brass cylinders, 135 led lights, and features the top of the Space Needle in negative space. This “easter egg” is perfectly scaled and positioned to showcase Seattle’s icon while residents and guests are within the condo.
