What is Putt-Putt Clash?
The idea came from a simple desire to play more mini-golf. We want to give local builders, creatives, and artists a fun way to show off their skills and ideas (that could be you), and then enjoy a super fun day of playing mini-golf with the community.
What, When, & Where?
The 12 to 18 unique home-made courses will set up Saturday July 20th.
Open play is from Noon to 8pm.
The event will be held at Blackmouth Design, on Bainbridge Island. The address is
7689 NE Day Rd W, Bainbridge Island, WA 98110.
A $10 ticket gets a player a golf ball, putter, score card, and a ballot. Kids under 5 play for free.
After trying each hole, players vote on their favorite one! Voting will close at 7:30pm Saturday. After counting the votes, we’ll announce the 1st, 2nd & 3rd place winners - $500, $200, & $100 respectively.
How to Participate
ENTRY IS FREE! Email your submission to puttputtclash@gmail.com
Your submission should include your name (or names of team members), a contact cell phone number, the elevator pitch for your course concept, and, if you’d like, a brief description of your personal background. Don’t worry if you don’t have a fully thought out idea. We know the creative process is messy, things change and inspiration is found mid-journey.
We will reach out within a few days to let you know your submission has been accepted, and to provide additional information.
Submissions are capped at 18, and will be accepted on a first-come first-serve basis, so don’t wait! Every course will receive a cash rebate on completion of setup, as a thank you for your contribution and to offset your material and time commitments.
Course Design Rules
1. SIZE: The course must fit within a 8ft x 16ft footprint.
2. SAFETY: Please consider the safety of attendees, no ball launching contraptions.
3. START & FINISH: Have a clear location(s) to tee off and final hole(s).
4. POWER: No generators or air compressors allowed. Powered devices are permitted, but must be battery or human powered.
Suggestions
Construction materials - This is a great use for scrap materials. Please consider using materials that are already headed for the landfill.
Color and theme - The setting, props, and scenery contribute significantly to a player’s experience. Do not underestimate the power of a paint job and a theme!
Not too difficult - Consider making hazards that greatly reward skilled shots, but don’t harshly punish bad ones. Think shortcuts.
Human friendly - Make your course walkable, and durable enough for 1 day of use.
Test your hole - Play your course to troubleshoot it before the event begins. Make sure the ball can’t get stuck anywhere that is irretrievable.
Square feet - You don’t need to completely fill the 8’x16’ footprint. Compact and feature rich is better than large with sporadic features. Make an L shape, a long narrow course, or other interesting shape that exists within the bounds.
